Late April and early May are busy times for us with the finalisation of cricket squares and the preparation of cricket pitches ready for early summer play.
Below is a pitch in two stages of a seven day preparation routine. The first photo shows the pitch with its winter marking pegs still in place. At this stage the pitch has been rolled with the heavy roller every other day, it has been scarified to remove any thatch, brushed to stand the blades up and we have started to reduce the height of the grass.
The second photo shows the pitch ready for play after some more rolling and a cut down to match length grass of about 3mm.
